Food Sovereignty.

Sarah Wentzel-Fisher discusses how we can make our communities more prosperous, sustainable, and resilient by adopting regenerative agriculture practices; she explains the holistic approaches associated with regenerative agriculture, emphasizing their social, economic, and ecological dimensions. She also discusses the importance of food sovereignty, provides an overview of the Carbon Ranch Initiative, and brings attention to the many issues’ farmers face today.

● Food is a really important form of community expression; producing and consuming food are cultural practices that can bring communities together.

● Food sovereignty is a community’s ability to feed itself and potentially produce enough surplus for trade with other communities.

● Agricultural workers were historically a larger workforce than everyone else combined; they now make up less than 1% of the U.S. population, and over half are more than 60 years old.

● Opportunities exist for community-driven agricultural initiatives; everyone can contribute to food production, even in small ways.
