Primates For Primates.

Sam Shanee has lived in Peru since 2007, leading conservation efforts. His approach to conservation goes beyond protecting a single species, integrating community-based conservation efforts that tackle deforestation, illegal wildlife trade, environmental education, and sustainable development. He was a co-founder of the Neotropical Primate Conservation, a London-based NGO that funnels funds from all around the world to the project in Peru. Sam has found that many local communities are deeply invested in conservation, needing only resources and support to implement
effective environmental protection.

● NPC works directly with local communities to establish legally protected reserves, ensuring both environmental and economic sustainability.

● The use of focal species, like the yellow-tailed woolly monkey, as umbrella species in conservation efforts help protect entire ecosystems and resources, not just the targeted species.

● Education plays a crucial role in conservation, leading to quick and clear impacts on wildlife populations and local communities.
