Clint Baker

Breakfast, Dance & BBQ (Sunday)

Clint Baker was born in 1971 in Mountain View, California. He first became interested in Jazz when he received a stereo system with some Count Basie and Benny Goodman records as a gift from his folks. Around the same time, he started listening to KMPX, a local big band and traditional jazz radio station as well as the weekly Turk Murphy broadcasts on KJAZ out of San Francisco.

Clint is a child of Bay Area radio. One of his life’s dreams was realized when he was asked to work as a co-host with Bay Area radio legend, man on the street, Mal Sharpe. That was the clincher. Clint had already been running his own band since he was a teenager and had worked with guys like Bob Helm, Leon Oakley, and other members of the Turk Murphy Jazz Band. Clint still holds forth in one of the longest running regular trad jazz gigs in the Bay Area; Friday nights at Café Borrone in Menlo Park. That’s when he’s not teaching jazz history or traveling with many Bands including Nick Rossi’s Swing Six, Heidi Evelyn’s Tasting House ensemble and the Bob Schulz Frisco Jazz Band.

Clint is proud to have celebrated10 years of Breakfast Dance and Barbecue last June, He also has been teaching the long-standing Community Education Jazz History Class, Jazz From the Hill for well over 20 years, bringing jazz history to the community every Tuesday
