| Sam Bevan (2007) | |
|---|---|
| After growing up and attending college in Salt Lake City, bassist Sam Bevan now lives only a few miles from where he was born in Oakland, California.
Sam's adoption of the bass followed periods playing piano (even professionally) and singing (he still sings when he solos on bass), and getting a BA in French (a language he claims no longer to be able to speak). Sam prefers the bass because, as he puts it, "The bass has a great job: I can interact with the drummer, and then I can make melodic comments, and then I can be a support player. I's the one instrument, I think, that can ... play all the roles in the band, and basically have a relationship with everybody." And Sam does have a professional relationship with many bands, among them Monk's Music Trio, Loosewig, and the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra. |
